Teen killed by dogs near London, Ont., remembered as 'quirky' and an animal lover

A 17-year-old girl who died last week after she was attacked by three dogs outside London, Ont., is being remembered for her warm and unique personality, and love of animals and her friends.

Megan Fisher, a member of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, died Thursday. Shewas mauled by the large breed dogs on a property southwest of the city, police said.

"With her warm, caring, yet quirky personality, Megan touched the lives of her many friends and classmates," her obituary said.

Her family said Fisherloved drawing, painting and beadwork. Her obituary also saidshe cared deeply about all animals and had different typesof pets.

Megan was astudent atStrathroy District Collegiate Institute,where the school community is also mourning her death.

The principalsaid the school board's traumatic events response team has been made available to students and staff.

"It is with great sadness that the Strathroy District Collegiate Institute community learned of the tragic passing of student Megan Fisher on Friday,"Stephanie Hambideswrote to community members.

"A proud member of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Meg loved to learn and will be remembered by those who knew her as a very kind and caring person who always put others first, and openly expressed her love for her family, friends and teachers."

Ontario Provincial Police continued to investigate Tuesday, but said no charges havebeen laid.

Const. Jeff Hare said thedogs are in a shelter under public health quarantine. They did not belong to Fisher orlive at her home.

Fisher's family said her funeral will be held at a later date.
