Toronto man arrested for allegedly robbing south London bank

A Toronto man is in custody in relation to a bank robbery that happened in London, Ont.'s south end Tuesday morning.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. the man entered a bank on Wellington Road and produced a note to the teller demanding money, police said. He was given the cash and as he exited he uttered threats to another man.

There were no reported injuries, and police would not say which bank was the target.

A description was provided to police and the suspect was located by officers a short distance away from the bank. The stolen cash was recovered.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old is facing the following charges:

• Two (2) counts of robbery with violence or threats;
• Assault with a weapon;
• Uttering threats/death or bodily harm;
• Carry concealed weapon; and
• Public mischief divert suspicion from self.

The accused is set to appear in a London court on Wednesday. Anyone with additional information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the London Police Service (LPS).
