Accused murderer facing more charges

A Manitoba man charged with killing his parents and brother in 2005 now faces three additional murder-related charges.

Denis Jerome Labossiere, 38, was already incarcerated at Stony Mountain Institution when police charged him Thursday with three counts of counselling to commit murder.

The intended victims, according to RCMP, were Labossiere's nephew, sister, and a former friend, all Winnipeg resident. No one was harmed.

The RCMP, which announced the new charges on the weekend, allege that Labossiere plotted with another Stony Mountain inmate. Police say those discussions occurred between Dec. 27, 2007 and July 19, 2008, while Labossiere was released on parole at a Winnipeg halfway house and when he was back at Stony Mountain.

Labossiere appeared in court on March 20asRCMP laid the new charges, which follow an investigation that began in the fall of 2008.

Meanwhile, the charges relating the 2005 deaths of Labossiere's parents and brother remain before the court. He was charged in May 2008 with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

The killings took placeon a farm near St. Leon, about 150 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
