Winnipeg woman dies in head-on crash near Binscarth, Man.

A head-on collision on Highway 16 in southwestern Manitoba has killed a 58-year-old woman from Winnipeg, said Russell RCMP.

A head-on collision on Highway 16 in southwestern Manitoba has killed a 58-year-old woman from Winnipeg, Russell RCMPsay.

Officers arrived at the crash 15 kilometres south of Binscarth, Man., around 5:40 p.m. Sunday.

Police determined two vehicles, a pickup truck travelling southand an SUV travelling north, collided head-on.

The woman driving the SUV died at the scene while her43-year-old female passenger, from St. Clements, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Her condition Monday is not known.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 62-year-old man from Winnipeg, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators do not believe alcohol or speed played a part in the crash.

Binscarth is near the Saskatchewan border,305 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
