Boy, 8, drowns on St. Theresa Point First Nation, RCMP say

RCMP are investigating after an eight-year-old boy drowned in Island Lake on St. Theresa Point First Nation last week.

RCMP are investigating after an eight-year-old boy drowned in Island Lake onSt. Theresa Point First Nation last week.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on June 4.

The boy was swimming with a group of other children, all around seven and eight years old, when he slipped off a rope swing and fell into the water, RCMP said.

The boy wasn't able to get back to shore.

Officers are still investigating the death, but no charges are expected.
