A 15-metre long marine reptile sculpture has completed its Prairie-wide journey from Alberta to Manitoba.

The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre and the city of Morden welcomed the giant blue replica of Bruce the mosasaur into town Friday.

About eight months ago, the museum commissionedDinosaur Valley Studios in Drumheller, Alta., tobuild a life-sized display based on the skeleton of Bruce, whose 80-million-year-old bones were pulled from a Thornhill, Man., pasture in the 1970s.

The museum initially planned to keep the statue a secret until its unveiling later this summer, but the second it hit the roadin Alberta, locals started posting photos online.

People in Morden lined street-sidesFriday as it the creature rolled into town.

Officials with the museum say the prop will be put up somewhere in of-site in Mordenat the end of July.
