Winnipeg's Brooke-Lynn Boyd, 21, won a bronze medal on Monday at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in front of the hometown crowd.

Boyd threw43.32 metres at the event inside University Stadium at the University of Manitoba campus.

She placed just behind Ontario'sAshley Pryke(gold, 50.68 metres)andBailey Dell (silver,46.42 metres).

Earlier Monday, Winnipeg's Kyla Roy won the first medal for Team Manitoba, taking bronzein the triathlon.
