A 34-year-old woman who hadjust left church was pulled from her vehicle and robbed during a violent carjacking on Sunday evening in Winnipeg's West Alexander area.

She was confronted by three people, one witha weapon, on William Avenue west of Isabel Street around 9:15 p.m.They demanded her keys, forced her out, stole other items from her and then drove off, police said.

It's the second violent carjacking in as many days, after a 45-year-old woman was robbed of her pickup truck and run over as it sped away from a parking lot downtown.

The 45-year-old suffered significant injuries and was taken to hospital in unstable condition. She has since been upgraded to stable.

No arrests have been made in either incident.

"From what we know at this point, there's nothing linking them together," said police Const. Steve Spencer, who would not say what weapon the attackers had in Sunday's incident because "that would be information that just the suspects and the victim know, so we're going to hold that back at this point."

He also wouldn't say what kind of vehicle was stolen because that might identify the victim.

The carjackers are described as:

  • A female, about five feet, five inches, with a skinny build. She was wearing a red hoodie with a grey jacket over that and grey pants. She has a small tattoo near her right eye.
  • A male, about five feet, five inches, with a skinny build. He waswearing a baseball cap and grey hooded sweatshirt.
