Christmas lights, shopping sprees in Sage Creek

A series of contests in Sage Creek has one man walking away with $1000 in meat.

The Sage Creek Residents Association has been using contests to foster a sense of community in the new neighbourhood.

Justin Brown won a three-minute shopping spree from Sobey's, where he able was grab up to $1000 in groceries. He set his sights on the meat section.

I was going to do the circle of meat, but I made it about half way through when I lost all nerveand just started grabbing, a lot of chicken, a lot of bacon, steaks, beef, ground beef, said Brown.

He will be keeping some in his freezer, and some at his moms house as well.

Shes trustworthymaybe not my buddies, but she is.

Lang Wong is the social chair of the Sage Creek Residents Association. He says the contests are about getting people talking to each other.

Were all new here, this neighbourhood is very young, and were just trying to do something special here. Everybody bought nice homes here, but to make a community you need to be involved and thats what were trying to do.

Another contest will award people for the best Christmas lights display. The competition will be judged on Saturday.

Itll make everything look great in Sage Creek, said Wong.

Contestants will be judged on curb appeal, unique design, creativity and theme.
