Police have found the vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday evening that killed a 15-year old boy.

Police have found the vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday evening that killed a 15-year old boy.

Rodney Churchill was struck by a car while he and a 14-year-old friend were walking along Bauline Line, north of St. John's.

With the help of information from the public, police located a vehicle parked at a residence on Bauline Line.

Police are not releasing information about the make and model of the vehicle, but Staff Sgt. June Layden says there are grounds to believe the car was involved.

"At the point time we located this vehicle, and went to the door of the residence where the car was parked, no one answered the door," she says.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary investigators know who the registered owner is, but do not know who was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Meanwhile, grief counsellors were to make themselves available Wednesday at Leary's Brook Junior High, where Churchill attended school.

Principal Byron Head says the school community is coming to terms with its grief.

"We've received quite a number of calls, concerns both from parents and of course indirectly by students," Head says.

"Everyone is saddened and shocked, to say the least."
