Estimated 2,000 trick-or-treaters come to Safe Halloween

Trick-or-treaters packed the Indian and Mtis Friendship Centre on Friday night for Safe Halloween, an event that started after a 2010 triple shooting in Winnipeg's North End.

The friendship centre's Kerri Johnston says the event, now in it's fifth year, brings the community together for children.

"I think it's a great idea because this is the first place they come so, when they go out in the community they feel a little bit safer.Everybody's been to the same place, they can follow one another.They feel safer," she said.

The friendship centre estimates about 2,000 kids came out for Safe Halloween.
