Green Wave team freshens up Winnipeg park with help of mayor

Take Pride Winnipeg's Green Wave team have freshened up McKittrick Park todaywith the help of Mayor Brian Bowman and other community members.

Members of the team, along with Bowman and children from the Lord Roberts neighbourhood, painted a park building and benches on Tuesday morning.

Now in its 10th year, the Green Wave program hires 14 teens between the ages of 16 and 19 every summer to pick up litter, remove graffiti and beautify parks, playgrounds and other community spaces.

"Green Wave proves time and again that a coat of paint, plant care, and graffiti removal make a positive impact on our playgrounds, parks, and community spaces. The program truly illustrates how collaboration and a little elbow grease can energize our neighbourhoods," Bowman said in a news release.
