Sex offender arrested for allegedly violating parole conditions

Clay Byron Starr, 33, was wanted for allegedly breaching the conditions of his release from federal custody on June 20. He's now been arrested, police said in a news release Thursday.

A sex offender who RCMP allege violated his release conditions has been arrested, Manitoba RCMPsaid in a news release Thursday.

Clay Byron Starr, 33, servedover a decade in prison after being convicted in 2013 of sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, fleeing a police officerand failing to comply with a probation order, police previously said.

He was released from a maximum-security facility in Ontarioon June 20.

In a July news release,RCMP saidStarr was supposed to live in Sandy Bay First Nation as part of hisparole conditionsbut was believed to befrequenting the Winnipeg and Brandon areas.
