Media got a sneak peak Friday afternoon of the new Dinosaurs Alive! exhibit. 15 life-size, animatronic dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods are invading the Assiniboine Park Zoo and the new exhibit opens to the public in time for May long weekend.

Gary Lunsford, the Head of Zoological Operations at Assiniboine Park Zoo said in a press release the park is thrilled the exhibit is ready for the long weekend. "There's been a lot of excitement and anticipation within the community since we announced this exhibit was coming." Lunsford adds that it is going to be wonderful to share this experience with the parks visitors.

A Tyrannosaurus Rex, athree-horned Triceratops and some of the latest paleontological finds including the Mojoceratops and Kosmoceratops, will be on display at the zoo.

There is a dig site and excavation site where children of all ages can discover what it's like to be a paleontologist. The exhibit also explains how dinosaurs adapted over their lifespan based on their needs, environmentand diet. Watching theanimatronic dinosaurs move and roargives visitors the opportunity to take see what life might have been like65 million years ago.

Dinosaurs Alive! is included in the regular price of zoo admission and opens on Saturday May 21st at 9:00 a.m. The exhibit is scheduled to run until September 5, 2016.
