We did it! All extreme cold warnings lifted in Manitoba

It's over.

The extreme cold warnings that have seemed frozen in place across Manitoba are finally gone.

The lastlingering warnings stubbornly remained insouthern Manitoba for much ofFriday morning, bringingwind chills in the40 range.But they, too, were lifted by Environment Canada around 11 a.m.

The weather agency is now forecasting warmer daytime highs through the weekend and into next week, with a high of 5 Cfor Winnipeg on Saturday.

Wind chillwill make it feel closer to12, but even thatmayfeel like mid-July compared to the30 C to 40 C temperatures and 50 wind chills the province has endured through most of February.

Winds will be strong, however, gusting to up50 km/h.

The normal daytime high temperature for this time of year in much of southern Manitoba is6 C, with a normal low of16 C.

Highs between8 C and14 C are expected through the coming week with overnight lows between15 C and20 C, Environment Canada says.
