The Winnipeg Regional Health Authorityis preparing for what it's calling the rare event of an Ebola case surfacing in Winnipeg.
The Health Sciences Centre will be the designated site to receive any suspected case of the virus, WRHA spokesperson Melissa Hoft said in a statement to CBC.

Training on the required personal protective equipment is ongoing at HSC, emergency departments and clinics across Winnipeg according to Hoft.

Health officials in Manitoba have ordered supplies to add to the WRHA's growing inventory of protective equipment.

The Public Health Agency of Canada is indicating that the overall risk of Ebola surfacing in Canada is extremely low but in what the WRHA calls an abundance of caution, they alongside Manitoba Health and emergency medical services continue to plan and prepare.

Patients whose symptoms could indicate Ebola are being asked about their travel history.

Hospitals across Canada are on high alert after a health-care worker in Texas tested positive for the virus, marking the first case of human-to-human Ebola transmission in the United States.
