Winnipeg police officer injured after gun fires inside holster

A Winnipeg police officer was injured after his gun went off in his holster.

Officer is in stable condition

A Winnipeg police officer was injured when his gun went off while insidehis holster.

It happened just before 1 p.m. in the 1100 block of Taylor Avenue, police said. About five police cars filled the parking lot of the Sobeys grocery store on Taylor Avenue for many hours in the afternoon.

The officer was taken to hospital and is in stable condition, police said. No one else was injured.

Police said an investigation is underway.
