Pallister still 2nd-most popular premier in Canada despite rating dip, poll suggests

Brian Pallister may not be as popular with Manitobans as he once was, but with a 41 per cent approval rating, he remains in good standing compared to premiers in other provinces, a new Angus Reid poll suggests.

Brian Pallister may not be as popular with Manitobans as he once was, buthe remains in good standing compared to premiers in most other provinces, a new poll suggests.

"Canadians appear increasingly underwhelmed by the performances of their provincial premiers," the Angus Reid Institute said in a release.

The polling firm releaseddata Thursday that suggests Pallisteris still Canada's second-most popular premier.

The approval rating of Manitoba's premier has dipped by four points,down to 41 per cent, according to the poll. It's the third consecutive timePallister'spopularity has weakened in the quarterly poll.

Forty-seven per centdisapproved while 13 per cent weren't sure where they stand regarding Pallister's performance.

The total does not add up to 100 per cent because of rounding.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall also experienced a hit, sliding seven points down to 45 per cent this quarter. He did, however,manageto again outrank all other premiers'approval ratings.

A random sample of 5,406Canadians were surveyed online between June 5 and June 12. The margin of error for a probabilistic sample of thissize is+/- 2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
