Arrest made in Portage Avenue gropings and assault

Winnipeg police have arrested a man in connection with a series of gropings and indecent acts including one that took placein broad daylight downtown.

Police saida woman saw a man committing an indecent act in the 300 block of Portage Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. on July 12.Shewas assaulted after she told him she was calling for help, police alleged.

She fell down from the physical contact and the suspect fled. The victim was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Police saidsoon after the incident, they received additional reports of gropings and indecent acts in the same area.

On Wednesday, policeannounced that a 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with six counts of sexual assault, assault causingbodily harm and breaching court orders.
