Raymond Cormier, accused in Tina Fontaine homicide, to appear in court Tuesday

Raymond Cormier, the man accused of second-degree murder in the death of Tina Fontaine, is expected to make his first court appearance on the charge in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Cormier brought back to Winnipeg after he was arrested in Vancouver area last week

Raymond Cormier has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Tina Fontaine. He is scheduled to appear in court in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Raymond Cormier, the man accused of second-degree murder in the death of Tina Fontaine, is expected to make his first court appearance on the charge in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Cormier, 53, was arrested last week in the death of the 15-year-old girl, whose body was recovered from the Red River in Winnipeg in August 2014.

He was supposed to appear in court on Monday, but the case was held over to Tuesday.

Pam Smith, Cormier's lawyer, said she has not had an opportunity to look at the police report yet.

Cormier is now scheduled to appear in court in Winnipeg at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Originally from New Brunswick, Cormier moved to Winnipeg about three years ago, but that was not where police found him last week. He was arrested in the Vancouver area on Wednesday and brought back to Manitoba.
