RCMP identify man found dead in Red River north of Winnipeg in September

Manitoba RCMP have identified the body of a man pulled from the Red River in September as a 29-year-old who was reportedmissing.

Manitoba RCMP have identified the body of a man pulled from the Red River in September as a 29-year-old who was reported missing.

Selkirk RCMP said in September thata body had been found floating in the river in the rural municipality of East St. Paul, northwest of Birds Hill, on Sept. 21. Police said at the time an autopsy had beendoneand thecause of death was not criminal in nature, but they had not identified the man.

RCMPreleased a composite sketch of the man last month inan effort to identify him.

In an update Wednesday, they said he had been identified as a 29-year-old man from Winnipeg, whowas reported missing to Winnipeg police on Oct. 8. They did not release his name.

Police say their investigation, along with theautopsy, hasdetermined the man's death wasn't criminal in nature.
