RCMP seize Taser from Manitoba water treatment plant employee

A Manitoba man who brought a Taser with him to work is facing charges.

RCMP seized a Taser from a 50-year-old male employee of the Deacons Reservoir Aqueduct and Water Treatment Plant, who brought the weapon with him to the plant on Dec. 5 to show coworkers. (CBC)

A Manitoba man who brought a Taser with him to work is facing weapons-related charges.

Oakbank RCMP were called to the Deacons Reservoir Aqueduct and Water Treatment Plant on Dec. 5 to investigate reports that an employee had a stun gunon him at the water treatment plant.

Management took the gunaway from the 50-year-old male employee and handed it over to police, who then arrested the suspect.

The suspecthad brought the Taser with him to work to show coworkers, RCMP said.

He is facing charges for possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace.

The 50-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in a Beausejour, Man. court on Jan. 20, 2015.
