Rebel NDP MLAs can regain caucus privileges, says Greg Selinger

Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger says members of his NDP government who challenged his leadership have regained full caucus privileges.

Selinger made the announcement following a caucus retreat at a monastery north of Winnipeg.

He says everyone in caucus wants to work together as the party prepares for an election set for next April.

Theresa Oswald, who ran against Selinger and came close to ousting him last month, says it was a positive meeting and the caucus wants to unite.

She is one of five senior cabinet ministers who suggested last fall that Selinger should consider resigning to help the NDP recover from record-low poll numbers.

They resigned their portfolios and were stripped of some of their caucus privileges, and Selinger called for a leadership contest that he survived by 33 votes.
