Off-duty Winnipeg police officer helps hold alleged thief in RM of Tach

An off-duty Winnipeg police officer helped arrest two people in the RM of Tach Saturday,RCMP say.

An off-duty Winnipeg police officer helped arrest two people in the RM of Tach Saturday,RCMP say.

On the evening of Dec. 23, Steinbach RCMP got a call about a suspicious vehicle driving on a property in the rural municipality of Tach, RCMPsaid in a news release Thursday.

Officers were told a man was seen on video surveillance entering a shed near ahome on the property as another person waited in a vehicle.

An off-duty Winnipeg Police Service officer at the residence went out to confront the suspects and restrained one of them until RCMP officers arrived and arrested him,RCMP said.

A woman inside the vehicle was also arrested.

The duo were charged with multiple offences, including possession of a prohibited firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, theft and possession of stolen property.
