Interactive map helps Winnipeggers navigate road construction season

The season of roadwork is well underway in Winnipeg but a new online tool should make it easier to navigate the network of construction projects.

The season of roadwork is well underway in Winnipeg but a new online tool should make it easier to navigate the network of construction projects.

The city has launched an interactiveonline mapthat shows all of the projects scheduled for this year and their status. It includes all streetwork as well aspedestrian and cycling projects, and traffic signal upgrades.

All information is available by mapor list format.

"With such a significant investment in the city's infrastructure this year,Winnipeggerscan expect a busy and productive construction season," saidCoun.MartyMorantz,chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works.

"This online map is agreat tool to help citizens see the work that this investment is going towards, and help plan their travel routes."

By clicking on a highlighted project on the map or list,a box will appear with project details such as:

  • Type of infrastructure (street, alley, sidewalk, traffic signal, bridge project, pedestrian and cycling path).
  • Type of construction work (reconstruction, rehabilitation, mill and fill, thin bituminous overlay).
  • Estimated start date.
  • Estimated end date.
  • Percentage completed.
  • Consultant and contractor information.

By clicking on a highlighted part of the map, a box will appear with details such as the type of project, estimated start and end dates, amount completed and contractor information. (City of Winnipeg)
