Man in critical condition after Sargent Avenue stabbing

A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed last night in the Spence neighbourhood.

Officers were flagged down at about 11:15 p.m.

A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed Fridaynight in the Spence neighbourhood.

Winnipeg police say officers were flagged down in the area of Sargent Avenue and McMicken Street at 11:15 p.m. for a report of an injured man.

"This injured male had stumbled in front of a vehicle and collapsed," police spokesman Const. Jay Murray said.

"That person waved down a cruiser car who was on scene very shortly after," he added.

Officers found that the man had been stabbed.

He was was taken to hospital and remainedin critical condition Saturday morning, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers.
