Woman charged with manslaughter in death of 61-year-old man in northern Manitoba

South Indian Lake RCMP have charged a 28-year-old woman with manslaughter in connection to the homicide of a 61-year-old man in O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation.

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection withthe death of a 61-year-old man in a northern Manitoba First Nation, RCMP say.

Mounties responded to a report Saturday night that the body of a61-year-old man had been found in a wooded area just outside of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, which is also known as South Indian Lake,RCMP previously said.

The man was found with what police described as "obvious injuries."

Joanne Elizabeth Baker-Spence, 28, was charged with manslaughter on Wednesday and remains in custody, RCMP said in an update on Thursday.

RCMP continue to investigate.

O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation is about 130 kilometres northwest of Thompson.
