Groundhog Day brings a little sun, typical February day

It's Feb. 2, and that typically means it's time to cast our critical thinking skills aside and leave the weather predicting to Winnipeg Willow, one of Manitoba's furry four-legged weather prognosticators.

It's Feb. 2, and that typically means it's time to cast our critical thinking skills aside and leave theweather predictingtoWinnipeg Willow, one of Manitoba's furry four-legged weather prognosticators.

Sadly, Willow passed away before her time over the weekend at theage of five. But the show must go on.

There's a chance of morning flurries across southern Manitoba thisGroundhog Day, CBC Manitoba meteorologist John Sauder says.

Thompson, Lynn Lake and the surrounding areas in the north woke up with frigid temperatures in the30 C range. Things won't get nearly that chilly in the south Tuesday.

For Winnipeg:

  • Mix of sun and cloud
  • High of10C
  • Morning northeast winds gusting to 10 km/h
  • Light winds shift to north in afternoon
  • Partly cloudy in evening
  • Overnight low20 C

Things are going to cool off tonight, but Wednesday should warm back upand reach a high of about11, with a centimetre or two of snow in the forecast.
