Manitoba Public Insurance put out a list - for motorists and monsters alike - in the hope that every one gets home safely.

  • Dont run across roads without looking. Stop, look and listen.
  • Do wear reflective clothing to make sure you are visible to drivers.
  • Do cross at corners and crosswalks, especially not between parked cars.
  • Dont speed. Motorists should slow down when they see children out walking.
  • Dont assume children see your vehicle. They are excited and could run in front of you.

MPI also says dusk comes earlier now, so be extra cautious.

The public insurer said it has distributed more than 100,000 safety Halloween bags, with special light reflecting strips, to schools province-wide.
