Trudeau back in Winnipeg to meet with Pallister, Bowman and municipal leaders

Prime Minister Justin Trudeauis in Winnipeg for the second time in less than a week, this time to address municipal officials and meet political leaders.

Trudeau, who spoke in the Manitoba capital on Saturday as part of the Liberal Party convention, will address about 2,000 mayors, city councillors and bureaucrats who are inWinnipeg forthe three-day Federationof Canadian Municipalities (FCM) conference.

Trudeau is scheduled toaddress conference delegates starting at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET at RBC Convention Centre.He's expected to repeat his government's pledge to spend $11 billion on municipal infrastructure over the next three to five years,and another $49 billion later on.

The prime minister also appeared at the convention centre with Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman before his address, and is scheduled to have photos taken with Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Delegates to the GCMconference will also hear from B.C. Conservative MP Dianne Watts on Friday afternoon,andNDP Leader Tom Mulcair and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May on Sunday.

Conference delegates will also take part in workshops with topics ranging from "Digital Disruption and the Survival of Neighbourhood Retail" to"Mitigate or and Adapt! Infrastructure in the Age of Climate Change."

Visiting officials have also been offered tours of city amenities such the Winnipeg Water Treatment Plant, the Southwest Transitway and the Red River Floodway.
