Winnipeg assault victim taken to hospital in critical condition

Police are investigating a serious assault that happened early Sunday morning in Winnipeg's North End.

Police were called to the area ofCharles Street and Burrows Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

CBC has learned afemalewas taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police couldn't confirm any other detailsbut said more information would be releasedon Monday.
