Winnipeg Football Club puts another $4.5M toward stadium debt

The Winnipeg Football Club has taken another 4.5 million steps towards ownership of their new stadium at the University of Manitoba.

The Winnipeg Football Club has taken another 4.5 million steps towards ownership oftheir new stadiumat the University of Manitoba.

The club, which owns the CFL'sBlue Bombers, announced Wednesdayit has paid off another $4.5 million of its debt toTriple B Stadium Inc.

Triple B isa consortium of the University of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba that wasput in charge of overseeing the construction of Investors Group Field, with the province putting up most of the cash.

Wade Miller, president and CEO of the Bombers,said the WFC fulfilled its 2015 payment in large part due to revenues fromhosting the 103rdGrey Cup and the FIFA Women's World Cup.

It also made a good chunk of money from hosting two major concerts, by One Direction and AC/DC.
