Winnipeg Fringe Festival breaks opening weekend attendance record

Winnipeg's annual downtown theatre extravaganza just smashedits own opening weekendattendance records again.

In its first five days on the stage, the Winnipeg Fringe Festival outsold last year's record by almost2,000 tickets.

Nearly 42,000 tickets were purchasedand67 of 181 shows were sold out inbetween July 16 and July 21.

CBC has reviewed every one of the181 Fringe shows.

The festival runs until Sunday.
