A cat died while another one was rescued during a house fire Thursday night in Winnipeg.

A cat died while another one was rescued in a house fire Thursday night in Winnipeg.

The fire, in a duplex in the 700 block of McMeans Avenue, started just after 10:30 p.m.

The exact cause is still under investigation, but officials say it started in a basement kitchen.

Damage is estimated to be $300,000.
