Suspect, 41, charged in River Heights, West End break-ins

Winnipeg police have arrested a 41-year-old man believed to be connected to several break-ins in the River Heights and West End areas.

Winnipeg police have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection to a string of River Heights break-ins. (CBC)

A41-year-old man has been chargedwith numerous property-related offences after several break-ins in Winnipeg'sRiver Heights and West End areas between January and April.

Police believe the culpritwould bike down back lanes looking for opportunities to break into garages andparked vehicles, causing property damage,police said.

On Tuesday, police said they responded to a call from a residentonOxford Street who reportedsuspicious activity at around 5 a.m. The suspect was taken into custody shortly afterwards.

The arrest is in addition totwo other people arrested onApril 20. Police said theyhave been charged with multiple break-ins in the River Heights area.

Residents in the area were concerned about an alleged spike inbreak-ins and started a Facebook group called theSmashed Window Club in 2015.Thepage is used to reportand share information.
