'Who's there?': Police go door-knocking to help reduce property crime

People in the eastern half of Winnipeg could have officers at their doorways Friday.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service are paying select homeowners in the eastern half of Winnipeg a visit "as part of ongoing efforts to reduce property-related crime."

"Recognizing the importance citizens play in combating crime, this public awareness campaign is aimed at ensuring residents have the information they need to protect themselves from the possibility of being victimized," police said in a statement.

Police planned to worktheir way through the East District 4 of the city (east of the Red River) between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
