Police seize $240K worth of meth in Winnipeg drug bust

Police arrested two people after during a drug bust that turned up 1.6 kilograms of methamphetamine in Winnipeg.

Police arrested two people duringa drug bust that turned up an estimated $240,000 worth ofmethamphetaminein Winnipeg.

Officers obtained a search warrant and made the bust on Thursday at 7 p.m. ata home on Powers Street, said Winnipeg police Const. Jay Murray. About 1.6 kilograms of methwere located, he added.

"It's a significant seizure," Murray said. "We don't often see meth in thiskind of amount. It is here in Winnipeg so we're happy to get it off the streets."

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested and charged with offences related to drug trafficking. They were "relatively unknown" to police, Murray said.

Both were released on a promise to appear in court.
