Man suspected in 15 Winnipeg robberies arrested: police

Winnipeg police have arrested a man they believe was responsible for 15 robberies across the city that span three months and involve $46,000 worth of merchandise and cash.

Winnipeg police have arrested a man they believe was responsible for 15 robberies across the city that span three months.

Police say the value of the merchandise andcash stolen was approximately $46,000, according to a news release on Saturday.

The spree of robberies started in March.

  • March 9: Gas was stolen at a gas bar in the 1000 block of Keewatin Street. Police say they believethe same man returned later that evening with a knife and stole money from the till as well as some cigarettes.
  • March 13: A manarmed with a knife robbed a gar bar in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue.He took money from the till, cigarettes and the employee's car, police say. Later that day, aman armed with a knife robbed a convenience store in the 500 block of Osborne Street, takingcigarettes.
  • April 22:A man armed with a knife robbed a restaurant in the 1400 block of InksterBoulevard,taking cash from the till.
  • April 29:A man armed with a knife robbeda gas bar in the 1000 block of Keewatin Streetof cigarettes and other merchandise.
  • May 2: Amanwho saidhe had a gun robbed a convenience store in the 600 block of Watt Street, taking cigarettes.
  • May 14:A man who said he had a gun robbed a convenience store in the 1100 block of Nairn Avenue, taking cigarettes. That same day, a man with a knife robbed a business in the 900 block of Keewatin Street, taking cash from the till.
  • May 16: Aman robbed a gas bar in the 900 block of Henderson Highway,takingcigarettes and cash.
  • May 17:Amanarmed with a knife robbed a grocery store in the 900 block of Keewatin Streetof cash and product. Later that day, a man armed with a knife robbed a convenience storein the 200 block of Tyndall Avenue, takingcash from the till.
  • May 18:Amale who said he had a gun robbed a convenience store in the 400 block of Talbot Avenueof cash and cigarettes.
  • May 23:Aman robbed a convenience store in the 600 block of Watt Street, taking cigarettes.
  • May 31: A man armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store in the 600 block of Watt Street, taking cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes.
  • June 2:Aman armed with a gun, who was accompanied by a woman,robbed a convenience store in the 700 block of St. Mary's Road, taking off with cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 27-year-old man, who was unlawfully at large and issuspected in connection with all 15 robberies. When he was arrested, police found he had crack cocaine on him.

Police obtained a search warrant and found a CO2-powered handgun.

A 30-year-old woman was also arrested. Police say she will be charged with robbery related to the June 2 incident as well as not complying with court conditions.
