Winnipeg's Journey to Churchill theatre nearing completion

The Assiniboine Park Zoo Journey to Churchill exhibitis almost ready to unveil one of its crowning jewels: the dome-shaped360 Aurora Borealis Theatre.

Starting July 3,thesurround sound systemand video projectors will roll a 10-minute video titled Rhythms of the North, ashort filmonclimate change and its effects on the lives of northern communities, wildlife and ecosystems.

Our hope is that visitors will leave the theatre feeling inspired to take personal action to combatclimate change and captivated by the beauty of Manitobas north so theyll want to visit Churchillthemselves, Margaret Redmond, President andCEO of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, said in a news release.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind theatre that will add an entirely new element to the zoo experiencefor our visitors when Journey to Churchill opens in just a few short weeks.

The film wasproduced by internationally acclaimed production teamScience North based in Ontario.

Construction on the dome aspect of the theatrestarted in May.

The zoo will be shut down starting June 23 until the opening on July 3.
