Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman wantsto set the record straight over snow clearing.

Hehas been quoted as saying he's not happy with the snow clearing done by private contractors. On Tuesdaymorning, in an interview with CBC Information Radio host Marcy Markusa, Bowman said hedoesn't expect to replace them with city workers.

"That's not something that's in my lens," he said.

But while hedoesn't want to go down the path of public-versus-private contractors, Bowman said he does want snow clearing to be better.

"I don't think Winnipeggers quite honestly care who's being paid to operate the plow, they just want plows out on the street and they want better service," he said.

"I do want to acknowledge the good work that people do when they are working for us but at the end of the day, I've heard from Winnipeggers and they're not happy with the level of service. [So] we are looking at ways we can improve the service on a go forward basis.

"I just want to make sure that we make pragmatic decisions to make sure there's better standing, that there's better service for Winnipeggers. That's whatWinnipeggersexpect of their mayor and council."
