Winnipeg's top bureaucrat in garbage, recycling quits

Another high-profile veteran employee has left the city.

Darryl Drohomerski quit his job as Winnipeg's manager of solid waste last month.

Drohomerski, who worked for the city for more than two decades, told CBC he left for personal reasons.

For the last six years, he was manager of solid waste and oversaw Winnipeg's sometimes controversialtransition to a rolling bin garbage collection system.

Drohomerski is the fourth senior employee to leave the city recently, following the departures of former CAO Phil Sheegl, former fire chief Reid Douglas, and former entomologist Taz Stuart.
