Winnipeg weeds out pot plants found in city hall flowerbed

A couple of marijuana plants were found in a flowerbed at Winnipeg's city hall building and promptly pulled.

A couple of marijuana plants were found in a flowerbed at Winnipeg's city hall building and promptly pulled.

They were discovereda few weeks agoon the King Street side of the downtown office.

A spokesperson with the city said some plants are found every year in various city-owned flower beds, and most are found by the weeding crews.

City gardeners perform weekly maintenance on beds and remove all weeds and dispose of them inthe garbage.

That's exactly what happened with the latest plants were found the gardener tossed the cannabis in the can with all other unwanted weeds.

However, the city has since rolled up a new process for dealing with the dope. Staff are nowdirected to contact the police service'snon-emergency line to make an official report.
