Winnipeg woman killed, common-law husband charged

Police have charged a Winnipeg man with second degree murder in connection with an aggravated assaulted that resulted in the death of his common-law partner.

A 27-year-old woman is dead and police have charged a Winnipeg man with second degree murder.

Police said Jenna Marsden was found injured in a Burnell Street home on Sunday. She died in hospital on Tuesday.

Fire and paramedic services were called to the 500 block of Burnell Street Sunday in response to a report of an injured woman.

She was transportedto hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said the couple and their two children were visiting family and stayed the night at the Burnell Street address. They got in an argument and the woman was assaultedin the upper body.

The man was initially charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident and later taken into custody.

The victim died of her injuries Tuesday.

The accused remains in custody and the charges were upgraded to second degree murder.
