Woman dies after being hit by vehicle at Winnipeg intersection

A 35-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle at a Winnipeg intersection early Wednesday morning.

Charges expected against driver in early-morning crash at St. Mary's Road and St. Anne's Road

A 35-year-old woman has diedafter she was struck by a vehicle at a Winnipeg intersection early Wednesday morning.

The collisionhappened at the intersection of St. Anne's Road and St. Mary's Road at around 2:40 a.m.

The female pedestrian was taken to hospital in critical condition. She later died ofher injuries, according to police.

The intersection was closed throughout the morning rush hour but reopened just before 9 a.m.

Charges are expected to be laid against the 35-year-old male driver of the vehicle, who is in custody.

Police say the man and woman knew each other.

More details about the incident are expected to be released on Thursday.
