Zero tolerance for drunk fans at Bomber games

To counter liquor-fueled incidents at CFL games, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers said beer will no longer be sold in the stands and fans will not be able to re-enter the stadium once they've left during a game.

More police officers will be in attendance at the games, the club also said on Monday.

"The Winnipeg Football Club is continuing to work closely with the Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba Liquor Control Commission in order to provide a better overall experience for all those in attendance," the CFL team saidin a statement."There will be an increased police presence at the games and within the parking lots to ensure no liquor enters the stadium."

Beer in concourse

Fans can still purchase beer at concourse locations throughout the stadium, but the suds will not be sold in the stands. Last fall, a police officer was assaulted while removing an intoxicated fan from the stands, and several otherofficers who assisted were showered with beer. There have been complaints from fans that rowdiness and intoxication have been a problem at some games in the past few seasons.

The club also announced other changesit says will make game day better for all fans.

Entertainment will be provided before fans enter Canad Inns Stadium and CJOBs Bob Irving will broadcast the pre-game show from outside the stadium as fans arrive. Season ticket holders will be allowed to enter up to 1.5 hours prior to the game and will be able to watch the players warm up.

Alumni greeters

The club saidBomber alumni will be at the gates, welcoming fans. Salisbury House has added a location in both upper concourses as well as a mobile location in the west parking lot near the Bomber store.Centerplate will be offering souvenir popcorn tubs, BBQ Chicken and Pulled Pork sandwiches. Pizza Hotline has been added in two permanent locations on the main concourse as well.
