21 arrests and 36 kilos of marijuana seized in drug bust

Over 36 kilos of marijuana, four firearms, approximately $100,000 in cash and drug-producing equipment were seized by police today.

Twenty-one people 20 men and one womanwere also arrested.

Several local police forces as well as the Sret du Qubec carried out 24 searches today in Montreal, Longueuil, Laval and surrounding areas.

The seizures and arrests are a result of an investigation initiated by the organized crime division of the Montreal police in Oct. 2012.

The suspectsare scheduled to face multiple charges tomorrow at the Montreal courthouse, including possession of firearms, drug-producing and drug-trafficking.
