Montreal police investigating after apartment building goes up in flames

A triplex in Montreal'sAhuntsic-Cartierville borough was heavily damaged by fire and at least one person was treated for smoke inhalation Monday night, according to police.

A triplex in Montreal'sAhuntsic-Cartierville borough was heavily damaged by fire and at least one person was treated for smoke inhalation Monday night, according to police.

The victim is recovering and no one else was injured.

Firefighters were called about aburning building on Lajeunesse Streetnear theintersection of mile-Journault Avenue at 9 p.m.By the time they arrivedthe structure was engulfed in flames.

Video and images shot at the scene, showflames bursting from the building, sending up thick, black smoke.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, but were unable to determine the cause of the fire. The building was heavily damaged.

The Montreal police department's arson squad is investigating.
