Bell Centre gets $100M facelift

The 200-metre stretch of road in front of the Bell Centre will be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone as part of$100million in renovations planned for inside and outside the arena.

Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson announced the three-year planWednesday in Montreal.

The changes also include the installation of a glass-canopy to overhang part of the street, named Canadiens Avenue,while a massive video screenwill be placed over the front entrance as part of the proposed redesign presented to the City of Montreal.

Theinterior of the19-year-old arena will be renovated as well, with a new sports restaurant,video screens and WiFi service. Lodges and concessions stands will be remodeled.

Events at the Bell Centre attracts2.9 millionvisitors annually, according to a study by the KPMG1 Firm.
