Mayor Denis Coderre will not be charged for literally taking a jackhammer to the whole community mailbox debate.

Back in August,Coderretook a stand by using a jackhammer to destroy theconcrete slab foundation of a community mailboxinl'Anse--l'OrmeNature Park.

At the time, he brushed off concerns that what he was doing was illegal, saying"Some people ask me, 'Are you afraid to be sued?' Sue me. I don't care. But at the end of the day, I have to take a stand."

On Monday, the province's Crown prosecutors office confirmed thatCoderre will not face charges for the media stunt.

A spokesman for the Crown told CBC that,after reviewing the dossier, they decided there wouldbe no charges against the mayor.
