CBC Montreal hackathon: meet the judges

Teams of developers, designers and engaged media consumers competed in CBC Montreals first ever community hackathon. A panel of expert judges picked the prototype they think makes news more accessible and interactive.

At the hackathon, teams willuse technology, to find creative solutions to a variety of problems.

• How can CBC Montreal use tech to help cover the news?

All of the hacking will ledup to Sunday afternoon, when teams will presented their prototypes to a panel of judges. The top team won a grand prize of $2,000, a meeting to pitch their idea to CBC executives, a ticket to Startup Fest, and consultations with mentors at Notman House.

Nora Youngis the host of CBC radios Spark, a show that focuses on technology and upcoming trends. Nora is interested in how new technology shapes the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. Noras favourite technology is her bicycle.

RobertMedeirosis a Senior Product Architect in the Digital Operations department of the CBC. You will most often find Robert gushing about Lisp (latelyClojure), wrangling large data sets, fiddling with graph databases, and generally trying to automate himself out of a job.

John Stokes, an investor with Real Ventures, looks for ideas that challenge the norm and that just make sense. John also likes ideas with human insight behind them and that encourage consumers to become community activists.
